There will be dog shows, cat shows, ferret shows, bird shows and the Victorian Poultry Fanciers Association will be there to offer advice on the best way to show your cock.  So if you like animals, are thinking about getting a pet or just want to debate the ethics of selective breeding then this is the event for you.

Our State Emblem Under Fire
Did you know our State’s faunal emblem is the cutest emblem of any state anywhere in the world?  Well it is. No it’s not the fairy penguin or the famous city dog statue Larry LaTrobe, it’s the tiny Leadbeater’s Possum.  Discovered in 1867 and thought to be extinct by the early 1900’s, the Leadbeater was miraculously rediscovered in 1961 near Marysville and, 10 years later, became the state’s faunal emblem. Almost half of its existing habitat was destroyed on Black Saturday and is under threat again.  Learn all about this amazing little creature and the efforts to secure it’s future at Melbourne Museum.
Where: Melbourne Museum, Nicholson St, Carlton
When: Daily until 13 April, free with Museum entry
