Not just Añada makeover

Añada (meaning first vintage) is now comfortably onto its second with a beautifully understated renovation in time for its fifth birthday. The extended kitchen and dining area also means an extended late night supper menu (10pm till late) aimed to satisfy the discerning night owls of Gertrude street.

The large front windows, exposed brick and clandestine lighting create an elegant yet snug atmosphere – perfectly reflecting the thoughtful menu.

The menu is split between bite-sized tapas on one side to larger raciones on the other ($8 – $22.5). Personal highlights from the wintery-focussed menu include delicately creamy Wapengo Lake rock oysters ($4 each), Tasmanian mussels smoked on-site ($2.5 each) and bone marrow toast topped with delicately cured wagyu ($4.5 each) – for that little bit of “roast” fix. Tapped wines are also on offer, specifically tailored to compliment the menu.

Experienced in the art of dining and sourcing quality local ingredients, husband and wife team Jesse and Vanessa also own The Aylesbury and are partners St Ali North. They use a lot of produce from their own extensive back garden, which they inherited from an Italian family who had been tending to it since the 1930s.

The intimate space is perfect to come in with a good friend who you need to catch up with. But with morsels as tasty as this, make sure it’s someone special as it’s likely to be a hefty catch up. With a proficient staff that have worked in some of Melbourne’s top dining spots, you can be rest assured you’ll be well looked after.
