Darebin Homemade Food and Wine Festival

Have you ever envied your friends who talk about passata-making days and their family get-togethers to cure salami? What goes into salami anyway?
Now you can find out, as the Darebin Homemade Food and Wine Festival kicks off this week and runs until Saturday 18 May.
The Darebin locals are looking for people to pass their skills on to, and include some very talented individuals keen to pass on their salami-curing skills. Learn how to make curry paste, pull your own noodles, keep bees in the city, cook a simple Somali meal, even how to identify and pick edible weeds!
The main event is on Saturday May 18, when there’ll be a food swap at Preston City Hall, where awards will be handed out to the winning home cooks.
As Darebin Councillor Angela Villella says, “Food is also just another reason to gather and enjoy each other’s company”. So why not grab a friend and head on down?
The Darebin Homemade Food and Wine Festival runs from May 13 – 18 at various locations.
