The Wise

Tapas and restaurant bar The Wise has just opened its doors on the increasingly crowded strip of High Street, Prahran. Nestled between The Smith and Hanoi Hannah, the new restaurant is a pintxos throw away from Chapel.

Following the twin trends of sharing and Spanish food, The Wise serves munch-friendly morsels you’d expect to be served in a Catalan eatery- potatoes bravas, de la casa peppers and tortilla Espanola.

Those looking for something more substantial might like the vegetarian paella with mushrooms, green peppers, saffron rice and Spanish onion.

On the weekend, pintxos are complimentary with every drink purchased (a Spanish tradition we’d like to see more of in Melbourne). There is also a range of breakfast options available such as eggs benedict, organic muesli and chilli baked eggs.

Working with a small space and slightly obscure décor (on one wall there is a painting of a Rottweiler) this seems to work, transporting patrons to a makeshift Spanish restaurante.

Whether it’s a quick bite over breakfast, a small function or an evening of drinks and nibbles with friends, The Wise has a little bit of everything. Like the strip of High Street it occupies.
