Naked in the Sky

The latest addition to Brunswick Street isn’t actually on Brunswick Street. Naked in the Sky, the new rooftop restaurant by Naked for Satan, is located two levels up and is accessible via elevator at the back of the bar.

Opening just before Christmas, the venue plays host to an extensive drinks list including some interesting cocktails (Kalimotxo, anyone?), the usual suspects on the wines and house infused vodkas.

Add to this several beers on tap – including the very Coopers-like Itchy Green Pants, the Naked For Satan lager and Dirty Granny cider and you’ve got plenty to choose from. All of the beers retail at $5.50 for a pot and $10.50 a pint.

The first thing you see after being beamed up and walking out of the elevator is the 15 metre long bar. Once you’ve got a drink in hand you can head out onto the terrace for a panoramic view of Melbourne city and the surrounding area.

You’ve probably never seen Brunswick Street from this angle before so it provides a delightful backdrop for drinking and dining. The pairing of this view with their Basque-country-influenced food makes for a pretty special first date or after work drinks spot.

If you choose the bar menu you’ll be noshing on salt cod sliders ($8), eggplant chips with honey and blue cheese ($9) or maybe some grilled prawn skewers ($12). The sit-down dining option offers a more sophisticated choices like roast pork knuckle with clam sauce ($26) and slow-cooked cider beef cheek ($26).

Whichever you choose, it’s a slightly more grown up naked experience than you might be used to downstairs.Naked in the Sky is a great spot with good value for money – especially when you consider the view’s thrown in for free.
