Local northside author – Edwina Preston – launches her new novel, The Inheritance of Ivorie Hammer, on 6 September. She’s also a writing teacher at NMIT, and spawns the most fantastic (and modest) authors and editors for online magazines.

In what could be loosely described as contemporary Victorian literature, Preston presents a colourful Dickensian mystery tale full of charm and droll wit (so as described by reviewer, Chris Womersly. It details social drama and catastrphe in the small town of Pitch, as a story of building intrigue with main protagonist, Mrs Ivorie Hammer. The story is deliberately loose with time and place, so as to not let details such as reality interfere with story.

This is Preston’s sophomore release, having previously penned Not Just a Suburban Boy. She also has written reviews and things for the Age, the Australian, and the Sydney Morning Herald, amongst other publications. She also loves music, plays in a band, and is besieged by family.

WHEN: Thursday, 6 September, 6-7:30pm
WHERE: 250 High Street, Northcote
