Springtime in Melbourne is all about the blossoming flora in the Botanic Gardens, hay fever, the Grand Final and of course Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.

Heralded as the people’s fashion event, MSFW provides shoppers and fashion lovers alike with the ability to buy straight off the runway, with most collections already in stores.

But with over 200 events on this year, how do you choose what to slip your best pair of Wang’s on for? Here are our top five picks.

MSFW DESIGNER SERIES RUNWAY 1
Celebrating exquisite design, Runway 1 showcases some of Australia’s most prestigious designers including Toni Maticevski and Aurelio Costarella as well as cult favourites Ellery and Michael Lo Sordo. Prepare to be dazzled with lux fabrics, bold shapes and a little bit of ‘Where the hell would I wear that?’.

MSFW HIGH TEA
Feel like fashion royalty as you nibble on cucumber sandwiches and sip on Earl Grey in the plush Savoy Ballroom at MSFW’s High Tea. Be serenaded by one of Melbourne’s favourite jazz ensembles as you tête-à-tête to your heart’s content for an afternoon of Gatsby-esque grandeur.

In this Australian premier doco, Texan born Tom Ford allowed filmmaker Michael Bonfiglio to capture the life of one of the world’s most successful fashion designers. Personally, I’m hoping for some footage of Ryan Gosling in one of his suits…
