Emerging designers from across the country will have their chance to catch the eye of major retail buyers as Debut at Fashion Exposed rolls into town.

Running from the 26th until the 28th of August, Debut offers up-and-coming fashion designers a chance to showcase their handiwork in front of some of the industry’s most regarded figures, and gain exposure among thousands of professional buyers.

Debut has been the launch pad for many of today’s most popular brands, including Limedrop and Trimapee, who now show at Australian Fashion Week. The winner will be treated to their very own retail stand at next year’s Fashion Exposed, Australia’s largest fashion trade show. Victoria has dished out a field-dominating four finalists this year, including textile designer Penelope Gibbs with her eye-popping scarf collection, and Indian-born Divya Rao who pays homage to the colours of her birth place.

Also showing as part of Fashion Exposed, Premiere is the events biannual trade fair for high-end fashion, where buyers can interact with designers and agents, as well as attend industry-specific seminars. Brands showcased include Joe’s Jeans, Paige Denim and True Religion.
