International Beer Day

International Beer Day rolls around on Sunday 5 August, giving us another reason to raise our glasses and toast all that we love about that amber brew. As if we ever need a reason.

From humble beginnings – four friends meeting in their local bar – only five years ago, the international celebration now boasts locations across the globe. Southbank’s World Restaurant Bar, St Kilda’s The Local Taphouse, and Terra Rossa in the CBD are all onboard with the festivities this year, promising a range of entertainment and beer-sampling specials (think live music and ‘hoppy hour’ at World Restaurant Bar, and $6 Italian lagers at Terra Rossa).

But the day is as much about celebrating the makers, the sellers, and the lovers of beer, as it is about toasting beer itself. It’s a lovely vision of beer appreciation, really. Like looking at the world through amber-tinted glasses.

WHEN: Sunday 5 August
WHERE: World Restaurant Bar, Shop 4 Building 2 Riverside Quay, Southbank; Terra Rossa, 87 Flinders Lane Melbourne; The Local Taphouse, 184 Carlisle Street St Kilda.
