Fitzroy book shop Hares & Hyenas are holding their first ever monthly Word Slam night where anyone from poets, storytellers, prose writers, lyricists, ranters, rappers and smart talkers can release their inner genius onto the world.
Hearing other people read out loud might sound like a drag, but this is competitive! Up to eight participants can compete in Rounds 1 and 2, and the final four remaining competitors do battle with another with their words. The winner will receive a cash prize, while the runner up will get a lovely book voucher.
With Round 1 being three minutes long, Round 2 being four minutes long, and the Final Round being six minutes, hearing people read has never been so intense.
Tickets are $8, or $6 with concession.
WHEN: Thursday 12 July, 7:30pm-9pm
WHERE: Hares & Hyenas, 63 Johnston Street, Fitzroy
