Melbourne Cabaret Festival

The Melbourne Cabaret Festival returns for its third year, with its largest lineup yet.

This year’s festival marks the first time in Australia that a festival has received its core-funding through crowdfunding, which the organisers have taken as a great vote of confidence and support.

In light of this, the festival has increased its venues and extended the time frame to a 10 night run.

At the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, the definition of “cabaret” runs the gamut from burlesque to jazz, from musicals through to drag comedy-cabaret. There’s even a show that documents the Barbara Streisand story through the songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Sondheim and Neil Diamond.

If you can’t choose which act to choose from, you can always book tickets for the Best of The Fest, or their opening and closing galas.

If it’s good enough for supporters Geoffery Rush, Amanda Palmer, Paul Capsis and Sammy J and Randy, it’s certainly worth taking a look at.

WHEN: Thursday 12 July – Saturday 21 July,
