Briwyant @ Malthouse Theatre

In Yolngu traditional painting, bir’yun is an intricate crosshatched pattern which creates a shimmering brilliance across the canvas. The canvas seems to move before the eyes, and is thought to be animated by the essence of ancestral forces.

This is the inspiration for Vicki Van Hout’s Briwyant, a contemporary dance performance of high precision, dexterity, innovation and raw physicality.

Couple Van Hout’s choreography with dynamic media arts projections and a beautiful soundscape and you have a compelling performance of sound and vision that will transport you to bir’yun.

WHEN: Wednesday 4 July – 14 Saturday July, 6.30pm
WHERE: Merlyn Theatre, The Malthouse, 113 Sturt Street, Southbank
