National Theatre Live: Frankenstein

Like Victor Frankenstein, who created the hideously beautiful creature, Cinema Nova has taken to experimenting; they have crossed theatre with film.

Oscar winner Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire) has returned to his theatre roots to direct this visionary adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic with two of the United Kingdom’s hottest stars. Here is your opportunity to see Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting) live in the flesh on the screen. Errr, sort of.

And, just like a Choose your own adventure book, you can choose your protagonist. In a special two part presentation, Cumberbatch and Miller alternate the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. The decision is in your hands.

Delve into the issues of scientific responsibility, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil, all while simultaneously stuffing your cake hole with popcorn. What could be better?

WHEN: VERSION 1 (Jonny Lee Miller as Victor and Benedict Cumberbatch as Creature) Saturday 9 June and Sunday 10 June, 1.00pm; Saturday 16 June and Sunday 17 June, 11:30am
VERSION 2 (Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor and Jonny Lee Miller as Creature) Saturday 23 June and Sunday 24 June, 1.00pm; Tuesday 26 June and Thursday 28 June, 6:45pm
