The Ross House will be screening the 2005 documentary The Real Dirt On Farmer John to help raise awareness on the environmental issues going on around the world.

The documentary depicts the hardships eccentric Midwestern farmer John Peterson went through with growing crops on the property his family have farmed for generations, due to the poor economy and the vicious rumours spread by locals who had a problem with the hippies and artsy people that came along to work on John’s farm over the years. After years of financial and emotional despair, John decided to try and overcome his difficulties by starting an organic farm, something unheard of in rural America.

Entry is by donation and all proceeds go towards environmental and social justice groups and campaigns.

WHEN: Thursday 7 June, 6pm
WHERE: Ross House, 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne
