Madame K’s Vegetarian

Among the increasing slew of vegetarian eateries populating Brunswick Street, Madame K’s Vegetarian provides another alternative with a comprehensive menu featuring a host of traditional Asian favorites.

Items including Lady Finger Rolls, Gado Gado and Tom Yum soup ensure instant vegetarian gratification. Tempeh and tofu feature heavily, providing substance in the mains. For fans of fake meat, soy duck pancakes and faux chicken skewers make for a solid if not entirely satisfying attempt at the real thing.

There are also a few creative re-interpretations of traditional meat dishes such as the green curry, which is served deconstructed as a rice mound with tempeh and sauce on the side.

The veggie heavy menu is accommodating of vegan diners, most dishes coming with this option, and serving sizes are good and reasonably priced. The venue is also licensed and the small drinks list includes fresh juices and a selection of beers.

Not one for the dedicated carnivore, Madame K’s will not doubt earn its place as a favorite among the north side’s dedicated vegetarian crowd as a fresh and healthy offering in an increasingly competitive scene.
