MP3 of the Week: ‘Whatever Leads Me To You’ by Geoffrey O’Connor

Everyone has one article of clothing that they found raiding their parents wardrobes. In the 70’s section, labelled under ‘kitsch’. I’m not going to stop you wearing it, in fact, I encourage it.

Geoffrey O’Connor wouldn’t stop you wearing it either. His new single ‘Whatever Leads Me To You’ could be found in the same place you found that jumper you love so much. With drum machines powered by nostalgia and a soothing voice musing pleasant prose over a backdrop of synth his style is difficult not to enjoy.

Having just finished a tour with Jens Lekman and gearing up for the Laneway Festival, O’Connor is clearly an artist to watch out for. His new LP Vanity is Forever is a whimsical collection of tracks that would be difficult to place time wise, but with such a fusion of old and new school vibes is instantly memorable.
