Alessio Carducci: you think youre better than me?

What is the difference between a polemicist and a polygamist? Find out at Alessio Carducci’s outrageously funny and borderline controversial show, you think youre better than me? Next to no one is safe: IGAs in Brunswick and Broadmeadows, forklift drivers, and people living at home with their parents are all open to ridicule and comedic slather.

As part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF), this intimate – and left-of-field – show features Reservoir boy Alessio Carducci, a drummer from Coburg and a poet from Samoa touting lines straight from Shakespeare, well, more or less. Despite some initial on-stage nerves, Alessio found his rhythm and delivered many legitimate laugh-out-loud moments, and while he teetered around the edges of going too far, stopped himself just short enough to make the show a class act of comedic talent.

Personal anecdotes were shared with a style reminiscent of the GOAT himself, Jerry Seinfeld. Topics included his experiences of all walks of life in Melbourne, from drug addicts on the train, plain-clothes ticket inspectors, finding employment and his lived experiences as an Italian. Being a Brunswick East-based denizen with an Italian background, his commentary was right on the money. Intelligent, great comedic timing and his portrayal of a cast of relatable characters made Alessio shine throughout the fifty-minute show.

Catch Alessio Carducci and his mates at you think youre better than me? at The Dove Club until Sunday 21 April 2024. Tickets available below.
