Golden Fleece Hotel brings Santorini dreams to South Melbourne

Most of us dream of sipping cocktails on a stunning white balcony in Santorini in Greece. Now, thanks to the Golden Fleece Hotel in South Melbourne, you can transport yourself to Santorini any night of the week.

Following a huge renovation from new owners Isaac Constantine and Zachary Riggs, the long-standing pub on Montague Street has a fresh new feel and Mediterranean-inspired menu.

The upstairs rooftop area will make you forget you’re in Melbourne thanks to its white sandstone booths adorned with terracotta pots and plants.

The menu features Mediterranean treats such as saganaki, burrata, sardines and calamari, as well as authentic Italian-style pizzas served with tomato vodka dipping sauce for your crusts. It’s still a Melbourne pub, so it’s only natural that you can still order your favourite parma, steak, fish and a side of chippies if your heart desires.

The drinks menu features a range of Australian beer and wines, and sweet and summery cocktails including the Stripper Martini with vodka, passionfruit, white chocolate and pineapple or the fresh and Greek-inspired Journey to Lemnos with gin, green apple, cucumber, mint and lemon.

The Golden Fleece also doubles as a bottle shop, which is expected to soon start a subscription service where you can have your favourite beer, wines and cocktails delivered to your door monthly.

If you’re not quite ready to jump back over to Greece for Europe’s summer, why not spend an evening in this dreamy Santorini-esque venue just a short drive from Melbourne’s CBD?
