Why are most people obsessed with chocolate chip cookies? Typical responses land somewhere around the love of gooey chocolate, the satisfying morsels of fudgy dough and cacao nibs and the chewy goodness they exude. This Christmas, Sydney-based 36-hour cookies by MakMak take the recipe for happiness and churn it into something delicious, heavenly and mouth-watering.

MakMak gourmet chocolate chip cookies typify the longstanding belief that good food takes time, love and attention. Every decadent batch is aged for 36 hours to ensure the (yum) ingredients mingle to create something perfect. (Talk about a labour of love.) Among their range is the limited-edition Christmas Cookie, the Original Choc Chip, the Peanut Butter Brownie and the S’Mores. For me, the S’mores is a clear standout. The team at MakMak combine marshmallow fluff, chocolate and the OG chocolate chip cookie recipe to create a sumptuous campfire-inspired treat. The Dark Chocolate Cookie also packs a punch with its crunchy peanut butter filling and topped with sprinkles of salt.

Inspired by the thoughtful gestures of their customers, Carlos Heng, Founder and CEO of MakMak, has decided to donate $2 from every purchase for the next 12 months to Beyond Blue. The decision to partner with Australia’s most well-known and visited mental health organisation is close to Heng’s heart.

“A lot of us grew up in an era where we were told to suck it up. But instead, we should check in on each other and talk openly about our mental health, especially in these times where we are most isolated than ever,” comments Heng.

From its origins in Sydney to becoming one of Australia’s most talked-about cookies, 36-hour cookies by MakMak is the holiday treat to elevate any festivity or end-of-year celebration with friends or loved ones.
