Barossa. Be Consumed

Let it rain glorious wine on Dry July’s parade and gather at Barossa for Be Consumed, Melbourne’s biggest vino celebration. For those who already exchanged sober thoughts with a sneaky glass of Pinot Noir, this event is for you and the masses of like-minded people around you. This Saturday, 21 July, will see the Meat Market in North Melbourne turn into a haven for lovers of anything Shiraz, Cab Sav or Sangiovese.

The one-day event will transport Melburnians to the Barossa Valley – often considered to be one of the best wine regions in the country – and acquaint us with forty-five wineries, each with their unique brand story, origins and blends.

Many thanks go to Barossa Grape & Wine Association for assembling such a spectacular event. ‘We are very excited to be on the road with Barossa. Be Consumed, it’s an opportunity for us to talk to wine lovers about our region and what makes it so unique,’ says Michael Pappas, Yelland and Pappas winemaker.

On the day expect to sway to tunes from local musician Sam Brittain or compete in a friendly game of Kegel, a traditional German version of bowling. Paired perfectly with your wine selections is an array of flavoursome eats, including a neat ancient grain salad with Barossa valley cheese or fried free range chicken.

Tickets to the ultimate wine-time experience is $65, which includes a Plumm wine glass to use in tastings, all wine tastings and various food and drink samples. You will also have the opportunity to bring Barossa to your home by opting into the Sip, Pick, Pack and Ship service, where you select wines from the producers present at the event. (This could be a dangerous move.)

Whether you’re a red, white or somewhere in between, be consumed by Barossa Valley.
