The prestigious polo has become synonymous with Melbourne’s summer with several star-studded and exclusive events held over the warmer months. The Twilight Beach Polo by Idiom Events, now in its third year, was the closing event for this year’s polo season and sent it out with a bang.
The elite event set at the picturesque and iconic St Kilda Beach West foreshore, sees some of the most esteemed players from all around the world come together. Beach polo unlike its more traditional grass counterpart sees two teams of three rather than four complete in four short periods of play known as ‘chukkas’. The fast-paced game is exciting and enthralling drawing in spectators with every swing of the mallet.
To begin the festivities we were graced by a string of paragliders who dazzled the crowd as they flew in above the sparkling ocean.
Now, let’s not forget the absolutely delicious selection of canapés and mouth-watering drinks served within the magnificent marquees adorned with spectacular furnishings. The drinks list was as impressive as the event itself with favourites including Veuve Clicquot, Heineken and an amazing list of cocktails including the crowd-pleasing Aperol Spritz. Canapés by the incredible Tommy Collins by Atlantic Group were a smash hit with fresh oysters, scrumptious sliders, pork bites and refreshing Aperol-infused watermelon pieces.
And of course what is any event without the spectacular fashion! Mia Fevola, Chadstone Fashions polo ambassador hosted this years fashion on the sand competition which saw some of the most glamorous outfits compete for the esteemed title of best dressed.
To finish the spectacular event was a breathtaking sunset cast above the final polo game. This was the perfect ending to an absolutely delightful day reminding us why summer is the best time to be in Melbourne!
