The Amazing Traveling Comedy Tour (TATCT) is settling in during the Melbourne Fringe Festival, bringing the best of Australia’s alternative comedians to The Courthouse Hotel in North Melbourne. Featuring award-winners and underground heroes, the tour comes to Melbourne with different comics performing their standup acts each night.
TATCT were originally formed in order to take Australia’s funniest new comedic artists to audiences outside the major cities, taking their show to regional Victoria, ACT and New South Wales. They’re the only multi-performer tour to visit regional towns, other than the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow. Co-founders Matt Stewart and Emma Sharp aim to support the artistic development of comedians and give them the opportunity to develop their craft, whilst supporting local venues and arts organisations and exposing regional audiences to new live experiences.
During Fringe, TATCT will feature emerging comedians such as Laura Dunemann (Offspring, Upper Middle Bogan), Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall (Mad as Hell, The Project) and Angus Gordon (RAW Comedy winner, Best Newcomer MICF winner). Some of the comedians have been performing for up to 10 years.
Matt Stewart, 2014 RAW comedy winner and host of The Amazing Travelling Comedy Tour, says ‘it’s a showcase of Australia’s best up and coming alternative stand up comedy! Each night I host two acts, including writers for TV, award winners and just the funniest people I know. Basically, 50 minutes of top quality stand-up!’.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
