VIC 100 – Wine Not?

The VIC 100 is a wine show for the people where no scores are published nor medals awarded. Though it calls on some of the best judges of wine in Australia to whittle down the top 100 bottles, they’re calling on all wine lovers of Melbourne who drink vino like it’s going out of fashion. The VIC 100’s expertly-curated list of the wines you must try and buy in the coming year will be showcased on the 5th of September and you’d be crazy not to attend.

If you’re like me and can no longer get away with giving a cheap bottle of Smirnoff as a 21st present, then this is an event you do not want to miss.  That’s right, I have matured from spirits to wine and I am a classy lady not to be reckoned with.

If you choose to attend, which you should, you’ll be joining fellow wine lovers at The Atrium in Federation Square to taste and buy the best bottle of wine for that special someone, dinner with the gals or even for your vino loving Dad (handy hint: Father’s Day is  the next day-Sunday 6th September, hellooo last minute present!)

Head Judge and Curator of the VIC 100, Nick Stock, will lead a team of judges through the tough task of reviewing the wide range of locally-produced red, white, sparkling and fortified wines and unveiling the VIC ONE – a hero wine in terms of regional style and the ultimate champion wine of Victoria.

“It’s a rare event to have this quality and diversity in one tasting,” said Nick, a passionate supporter of all things Victorian. “The VIC 100 importantly gives people the opportunity to meet the makers, understand more about the rich diversity of Victorian wine and find out what makes each wine region so distinct. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, enjoy the odd glass every now and then, or just want to learn more about the range of wines available from our state, the VIC100 is an amazing taste experience.”

If you want to become a Wine 101 connoisseur, Nick will be hosting a masterclass where you can brush up on your wine tasting skills, increase your wine knowledge, discover new regional styles and develop the ability to choose the perfect wine for different occasions.

Join winemakers from across Victoria’s finest wine producing regions in tasting their VIC100 winning wines. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketek starting at $46 per person. Producers will also be selling the winning wines on the day.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
