Touché Hombre has everything from your traditional tacos to the crowd favourites. After being open for a few years, Touché has recently changed up its menu and we can guarantee that their range of tacos and cocktails will get crowds lining up out the door.
Located along the well-known Lonsdale Street and less than a five-minute walk from Melbourne Central, Touché Hombre is a great place for the beginning of a night out or a place for dinner after a long week at work.
Milk Bar was treated to a range of antojitos, platos and tacos, with each one delivering a delicious taste of Mexico in their own special way. The platos have a range to choose from with my personal favourite being the costilla de cordero. This was beautifully slow cooked lamb ribs that fell off the bone and melted in our mouths. For the tacos, the calamari and chorizo taco is a winner, with sweet corn puree and tajin and habanero mayo, making for an impeccable combination with the perfectly cooked calamari. The other favourites include the pollo chicken, with grilled chicken thigh accompanied with a sweet pineapple salsa and queso fresco and another one being the barbacoa lamb. The lamb is slow cooked lamb shoulder, with the classic combination of pickled fennel and walnuts, paired with ancho chilli, eggplant purée and green apple.
Be sure to leave enough space for the drinks because what’s a trip to a Mexican restaurant without tasting the fine tequila on offer. Touché has changed up the way customers pick their favourite tequila by creating a flavour map which allows you to choose between an intense smoky, light and floral, vegetal and earthly or rich and caramelised tequila. The range of cocktails to choose from varies from your standard margarita with a twist, to combinations you’ve never heard of before. The Poco Loco and the Mexican Jumping Bean are two very popular options, and if you are after something with a bit of spice, you should give the Donkey Kick a try. This one is concocted from mezcal, bianco tequila, curacao, passata and hot sauce.
The venue not only offers a great atmosphere, music and seating, the staff are friendly and welcoming, always making sure everything is up to scratch and you are enjoying your experience. So, if you are after a taste of Mexico, Touché Hombre should definitely be on the top of your list.
