The world’s biggest art fair is bringing its immersive art event to Melbourne this month! The Affordable Art Fair will set up in the stunning Royal Exhibition Building and feature thousands of artworks from over 50 local and international galleries, as well as interactive activities, installations, art tours and live performances.
The Fair aims to open up the sometimes-elite art world so that contemporary artwork can be accessible to everyone, while making the entire experience fun and accessible. It has been travelling the globe for the past 20 years, starting off in London and spreading out to cities including New York City and Milan.
A plethora of artists and galleries will be represented, such as Archibald finalist Kim Leutwyler, K-Pop artist Kwon Ji An, Pop Art specialists Axiom Contemporary (US) and the Sydney-based Cooee Gallery showcasing Australian Aboriginal art.
As the name suggests, original pieces will be priced to fit into all budgets so just about anyone can own their very own artwork. Prices range from $100 to $12,000 with most works costing under $3000, catering to new art lovers and seasoned collectors alike.
Tours led by the Fair’s expert team will guide you through the vast array of art, catering to all tastes and helping you discover the perfect piece. Buyers can take the artworks with them that very day. Once an artwork is purchased a fresh one will take its place, meaning the pieces on show will be constantly changing.
Activities such as Mindful Colouring and the Banksy-inspired ‘Shred it or Save It’ installation designed by art therapists will help calm the mind and get you focusing on mental wellness.
There will also be a live art performance by body paint extraordinaire Emma Hack; think of that video clip with Gotye and Kimbra.
The Fair runs for three days this coming Friday to Sunday, plus a VIP cocktail night on Thursday night will launch the festivities. There will also be a Friday evening charity event in support of a local charity.
If you are looking for a new but reasonably priced centrepiece for your abode, why not check out the Melbourne Affordable Art Fair.
