The Oxford Scholar has reopened with a new spin on your classic pub. Your appetite will be satisfied with their wide variety of cocktails, craft beers, cider and a delicious menu. Located on Swanston Street and in the heart of RMIT University, the pub provides the perfect location for group meetings, after work drinks, or is just the place to get a decent feed for lunch or dinner.
To the menu, all your favourite classic pub meals are there, including the chicken parma, and fish and chips, as well as gourmet burgers and impressive vegetarian options. For those after a slightly smaller meal, snack on the absolutely delicious halloumi fried, served with an equally delicious house-made baba ghanoush or if you are more of a pasta person, a tasty spinach and goats cheese ravioli is also on offer. IMO (in my opinion), the best choice on the menu is the oven-baked salmon with wilted spinach, confit baby leek, ricotta gnocchi and capers. The salmon, perfectly cooked with crispy skin and complemented by wilted spinach, has left me wanting to go back for more.
There’s a lot you can do at the Oxford. You can play pool, sit in a booth for larger groups, or hang by the bar stool area if you are after a drink. The vibe of the venue is quite cosy and relaxed; it’s somewhere where you can spend hours just to pass the time.
The venue opened three weeks before semester break which meant it wasn’t overly crowded, but its central location will make it a popular after-work/after-uni spot. There is no doubt it will be the place to be!
If you are an RMIT student, staff or alumni, you are entitled to a 15% discount on all food and drinks with the Oxford Scholar app. The general public can also benefit from a 10% discount if they have the app.
