Igloo Wonderland

Fun fact: the snow used to build an igloo acts as an insulator, meaning that while outside temperatures may drop to a blistery -40 degrees, the inside temperatures hover between a comfortable -7 to 16 degrees. Now, ponder this – and all things wintery – in the luxury of your own private igloo. Perched on the banks of the Yarra at Wharf Hotel till mid-September, the Igloo Wonderland is the perfect destination for your next soiree.

Step inside a world of opulence and huddle beneath a sky of twinkling fairy lights. Each igloo is suitable for groups of four to seven people, but just quietly, there’s nothing stopping you from booking one of these for you and your significant other.

The hardest decision you will face is deciding which belly-warming platter to order. The Wharf Favourites include the usual suspects: flatbreads, trio of dips, chilli salt ’n’ pepper calamari, buttermilk fried chicken, cheeseburger spring rolls and arancini. The Fisherman’s Basket includes flatbread, Furphy-battered market fish, prawns, salt ’n’ pepper calamari, crinkle cut chips, garden salad, pickles and tartare sauce. Yearning for a plate of comfort food, we opted for the Wharf Favourites, and weren’t disappointed. After admittedly being sceptical about cheeseburger spring rolls, they were a surprise stand-out and were to die for.

Pair your platter with the Wharf’s choice beverage, the thirst-quenching cocktail jug of Canadian Club & Dry, mimicking a refreshing Pimms jug. House wine or a carafe of Wharf Draught are also on offer. Then sit back, grab a warm blanket, have a chinwag and watch the city go from day to night.

Warm up at the Wharf and say goodbye to those winter blues.
