Hear the hits. Feel the passion. Witness the pride. Be there when Game 1 of the Holden State of Origin Series kicks off at the MCG on Wednesday, 6 June.
Yep, that’s right: Australia’s greatest sporting rivalry will be played in the world’s greatest sporting city for the first time since 2015. Back then, a staggering 91,513 fans packed the ‘G with a similar near-sold out crowd expected next month.
Peking Duk – not the Hoisin variety at your local! – but the ARIA award-winning Australian duo, will showcase their unique electronic sounds in a spectacular pre-match light and music performance. Move over Meat Loaf, there’s something more tasty on the menu!
Then it’s on to the biff, bashing, tackles and tries to take centre stage as Origin once again smashes those pre-conceived beliefs that Rugby League is an inferior footballing code.
Not sure who to hang your supportive hat on?
If you’re a lover of blue tongue lizards, Tooheys, underdogs or sky blue, then NSW is the side for you. Having lost 11 of the last 12 series, Brad Fittler’s team will be praying a reshuffled back-line, a settled half-half partnership (they’ve had a whopping fourteen different combinations in 30 games), and the renewed availability of Andrew Fifita, can put an end to Queensland’s unquestionable decade of dominance.
Fancy a Cane Toad, a XXXX Gold or maroon – then make QLD your own. A side in transition this year, they’ll be minus 75% of their spine that has heralded their unsurpassed achievements, with Cameron Smith, Jonathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk all calling time on representative footy.
Secure the last of the seats today to experience first-hand, a rivalry like no other! If you want to watch from the comfort of your own abode, Channel 9 will broadcast the game live in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
