Mother’s Day at The Hotel Windsor

‘Weekend? What is a weekend?’ you haughtily proclaim, pinky raised, as you butter another scone.

Mum, mother, mama – whatever you call yours, you know she deserves to be treated like a queen. So why not treat her to a royal experience at The Hotel Windsor’s iconic Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea?

A vestige of the Victorian era, The Hotel Windsor is the last remaining grand heritage hotel in Australia. This cherished Melbourne fixture sits opposite the stately Parliament House and the picturesque Treasury Gardens. Just around the corner is the Princess Theatre, still glowing with Hollywood glam. One only needs to close their eyes to be taken back to times gone by.

The ever-popular Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea is steeped in tradition. Generations of families for well over 100 years have dined beneath elegant chandeliers, swapping ordinary lives for old-world charm. Come dressed in your Sunday best and prepare to sip on fragrant teas (or a cheeky glass of French sparkling), the perfect accompaniment to delicate ribbon sandwiches served on polished silverware. Tiers of delicious pastries and freshly baked scones perch daintily on clothed tables … but the best is yet to come.

The lady of the hour will also be treated to a decadent dessert buffet featuring mouthwatering cakes and sweets. Executive Pastry Chef Gette Eliso has also created a special treat – the Gâteau Saint-Honoré – the cake named after the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs.

In the lead up to Mother’s Day, $2 from every Afternoon Tea sold between 7–12 May, will be donated to the Miracle Mums appeal supporting the incredible work of The Royal Women’s Hospital.

So step into luxury this Sunday, 13 May because Mum deserves only the best.

What do bottomless pancake brunches, a rooftop bar and the 100 Burgers group have in common? Well, probably not much. That is, until the opening of the Prince Alfred Hotel in Carlton.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
