Some of Melbourne’s best multimedia artists are performing together this Saturday to raise money for Media Lab Melbourne, a maker-space run by a collective of new media artists.
Since 2011 Media Lab Melbourne has programmed diverse events that explore the intersection of art and technology: from thought provoking talks and exhibitions that peer into the creative processes of some truly amazing artists, to hands-on workshops in using technology for art.
The collective has big plans next year, says member Pierre Proske.
“We’ve been running the lab for nearly three years now and it’s time to take the next step. We want to provide our members with a real hacker space complete with desk space, storage, internet, materials and equipment like 3D printers, arduinos, raspberry Pis, LEDs and CNC routers.”
For six hours local acts including Forces, Mindbuffer, Whitebear, Chiara Kickdrum, Men Imitating Machines, Matsomoto Zoku, SBSF, Kit Webster and Lightmares will be pumping out six hours of sound, music and visuals. It will be rad.
It’s all happening from 7pm Sat 7 Dec at 524 Flinders Street $15 entry on the Door, cash bar inside.
