Ruth Wilkin, ascendant writer and star of the upcoming Just a Little Something I’ve Been Working On, knows all about the good and the bad of cabaret… And she’s going to show you the bad.
A glorious parody of overly-earnest performers and their self-styled shows, Just a Little Something is the cabaret equivalent of the screenplay that guy from Starbucks is always working on. The one he assures you is definitely getting a lot of interest from producers, for real.
A fond and original look at the dreams (…and delusions) of the cabaret circuit, the show was a runaway success at the 2011 Short + Sweet Cabaret, and this hour-long version has already had hit 2012 seasons at Chapel off Chapel and the Adelaide Fringe. Music, laughs, and vague feelings of superiority guaranteed.
WHEN: Tues 2 October – Sun 7 October; Tues, Wed, Sun: 8pm. Thurs, Fri, Sat: 9pm.
WHERE: The Butterfly Club, 204 Bank Street, South Melbourne
