The annual Reclink Comm Cup is about as Melbourne as late trams, pop up cafes and steamed dim sims. Once more the less-than-svelte warriors from PBS and 3RRR join forces to make the Megahertz, mortal enemies of The Rockdogs. They Saturday they’ll battle, sweat and sledge it out over a pig skin in an arena spectacular that makes Thunderdome look tame.

OK, so maybe not quite, but its a helluva lot of fun and all for a good cause. In-between the footy game Melbourne’s own 80s rock dogs Blue Ruin will be playing, while other sets by Boomgates (featuring members from Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Dick Diver, and The Twerps) will keep you warmed up better than a scalding cup of Nescafe Blend 43.

All proceeds go to Reclink Australia, a non-profit who use the sports and arts to improve the lives of people doing it rough.

Game on. P

WHEN: Sunday 24 June. Gates open 12 noon, game start 2pm
