Arbory Bar And Eatery Anchors At Flinders Street Station

Sitting idle since 1987, an abandoned Flinders Street Station platform has been brought back to life, being used instead as Melbourne’s longest bar. Arbory Bar and Eatery stretches 120 metres along the Yarra River next to Platform 13. Taking over from the days when Australia’s steam locomotives used to roll into this platform from Port Melbourne, a new era has begun.

The latest venture by HQ Group has utilised the location and history of the site. Seating is designed to appear like the wooden decks at a seaport, with the bar itself set inside a large shipping container. Diners can sit outside and enjoy a stunning view of the Yarra, and Southbank across the river, enjoying a heightened experience of Melbourne life while being immersed in a harbor environment at the heart of the central business district.

From the smoked mozzarella and bacon toastie in the morning, and the must have double cheeseburger at lunchtime to the wide selection of evening meals and desserts, Arbory Bar and Eatery encapsulates the European flavour of Melbourne dining with a modern twist. The bar and eatery is led by Head Chef Nicholas Bennett who has experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Britain, the Tom Aikens Restaurant.

Arbory Bar and Eatery is open every day from 7:30am until late, so whether it’s sitting down to enjoy Melbourne waking up with the aroma of coffee beans low in the air that gets you going, or if you wish to indulge later and end the day with a nice meal and some drinks by the lit up Yarra River, Arbory Bar and Eatery can fulfill all of your cultural and culinary desires at once.
