Sometimes you just have to do things yourself. So if you ever wanted to make your own bacon (and who doesn’t?), BaconSmith’s recently launched home bacon kits are your new bestie.

Why we love it: It’s super easy to make, allowing folks from all walks of life to whip up their very own delicious bacon, ready to eat in less than a week.

BaconSmith is the brainchild of Adrian MacGeraghty and Carolyn Rowe, whose appreciation of bacon as a mother of flavour culinary asset, but disenchantment with the quality available for consumers, has been the springboard in  perfecting their own eureka porcine product.

“We tried homemade bacon for the first time this year and despite the fact it had been overcooked, it still tasted better than any bacon I’d ever tried in my life,’’ explains Adrian.  “It’s the quintessential savoury/meaty treat and there’s a real lack of decent bacon in our supermarkets.’’

We’re happy to hear that BaconSmith is 100% natural and chemical free, with no water retention agents or artificial flavours, so it fries up like a dream-  ‘’And it doesn’t shrink like store-bought hind-cut bacon,’’ says Andrew.  Hooray for sans shrinkage.

‘’BaconSmith is for the savvy foodies who know what a good cut of meat looks like, what real food tastes like, and for those who want to get hands on.’’

Having launching their new bacon packs at Two Row on August 28th, you should check out their website to get around some smokin’ good pork.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
