Glimpse

As a human being we can either walk this life alone or choose to share our happiness and struggles with others. And sometimes those we end up connecting with can arise from the places you least expect.

Glimpse, the debut production by The Kin Collective, explores what would happen if you let a short connection with a total stranger blossom into a relationship that could last a lifetime.

Formed by some of Australia’s most prominent and talented performers, The Kin Collective came together after an acting workshop with Hollywood acting coach Larry Moss. Comprising of members such as Michala Banas, Marg Downey, Noni Hazlehurst and Linc Hasler, the Collective have spent the past 18 months honing their craft, with Glimpse the product of much sweat and tears.

The result of an extended series of improvisations, Glimpse is the story of eight strangers whose lives become intermingled. While some relationships bloom and others fall apart, the piece looks at the way we judge a person’s behaviour, the secrets we hide and how choose to share those precious moments with others.

Those months of bouncing ideas around and forming real life friendships has given the cast the kind of familiarity with each other to create a realistic and intimate story that sends the audience on a rollercoaster of emotion.

Dan Hamill is a particular standout as Bluey, while Laura Maitland, who also directs the piece, as Sophie/Grace moved seamlessly between her roles as a clueless trainee nurse and grieving daughter.

Glimpse is a quality piece of original Australian theatre, formed in unique and inspiring circumstances.

Glimpse is showing at fortyfivedownstairs, 45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne until 2 Dec

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
