Artist Nerissa Lea launches her showcase of visual delights this Thursday (23 August) at Australian Galleries in Smith Street, Collingwood. The event will be on showcase until 16 September, so don’t miss out or your eyeballs will hate you. I’d suggest the opening night to go do your schooze so you can say incredibly cultured and clever things to people (or intentionally look like an “uncultured buffoon” in my case).

Her art is a hybrid of dark surrealism, folklore, and is done with impeccable style and attention to detail. Since completing her degree in printmaking and cinematography twenty years ago, Nerissa has held solo exhibitions at Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and was awarded the S.H. Ervin Gallery Portia Geach Portrait Prize in 2004.
