Biological Empathy Virus

Picture this. It’s 1995. There is a deadly outbreak of the airborne Motaba virus. It is killing everything in its path. Thank goodness for Colonel Sam Daniels (played by the delightful Dustin Hoffman), who is here to defeat the evil powers and save human kind.

Now, replace the Motaba virus with a biological empathy virus. Instead of the movie Outbreak, you have Carl Scrase’s multi-channel video exhibition.

Carl Scrase likens his art to a positive virus; a virus that, if realized at the right time in the right place, might spread across humanity like an exponential wave, promoting perspective and understanding. ‘Experiment 02 – Biological Empathy Virus’ traverses the borders of science and art, revealing the human processes of both: their failures, triumphs and role in our everyday life.

For one night only, head to the Screen Space Gallery and dare to be infected by the experience.

WHEN: Tuesday 8 May 2012, 6pm-9pm
WHERE: Screen Space, Ground Floor, 30 Guildford Lane, Melbourne
