The Builders Arms Two Month Takeover
Posted by Paul Drury

Normally when a pub gets taken over it means they rip up the sticky carpet, bump up the price of a pint and whack in a plasma or two. Over the next two months The Builders Arms in Fitzroy is going the other way, being ‘taken over’ by a bunch of artists who are bringing down the price of booze, giving the interior a street artist makeover and running a series of gigs, film screenings and events.
Wax Volcanic, the peeps behind the warehouse parties at Anytime Place, are behind the temporary coup and they’re promising new staff, menus, bands, DJs, the whole shebang (not sure what happened to the existing staff, maybe they’ve been tied up and will be released safely in two months time).
Till then they’ll music most nights, Thursdays will have free film screenings (this week it’s an Adult Swim marathon) and Sunday’s will feature a traditional roast.
Sounds like fun. The fun starts tonight. Did I mention the booze will be cheaper?
