David Tieck is a one-of-a-kind comedian, one with a niche sense of humour. What Would Bill Murray Do? is filled with one liners and cringeworthy gags, not constructed for the faint hearted. Melbourne International Comedy Festival has very few shows with clown-style comedy and it shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the market for it.

David Tieck has been around for some years in comedy. He is goofy, light hearted and often seems to find the comedic side of life. Tieck is a talented writer and has published three books of comedic genius including his bestselling Losing My Virginity 52 Times. Copious amounts of his stunt and humorous journalistic style can be found in the Herald Sun. He has studied many forms of comedy and has spent the last ten years in North America, training and performing in styles such as sketch, character comedy and long-form improvisation. Tieck has also studied clowning in France.

There is no denying Tieck has put in the work over the years and each aspect of his training is portrayed throughout the performance. What Would Bill Murray Do? showcases 37 totally weird and foolish ideas mixed in with about another 37 of the same. This fun ball of nonsense is all to lead the viewers to discovering the great meaning of life.

The audience is in for 50 minutes of dry comedy, combined with costume changes and visual representation of jokes. Tieck loves what he does and it is very much depicted with this act and his continuous communication with the audience. The show makes little to no sense but is inspired by Bill Murray and his philosophy of having a good time. 

What Would Bill Murray Do? is wacky, weird and repeatedly caught the audience off-guard. If you are not into absurd comedy, this act may be a long 50 minutes. Those who are interested in dry, clown-style humour, there is no clowning around, this show is for you!
