Ratio Cocoa Roasters

Enter the modern day Willy Wonka factory with Debb Makin at Ratio Cocoa Roasters in Brunswick. Makin sources only the best single origin cocoa beans to create her small batch handcrafted chocolate bars.

At Ratio Cocoa Roasters find yourself immersed with so many different chocolate options. All the chocolate is made traditionally with modern machinery. From milk chocolate to 76% chocolate, everyone is in for a treat. Their dark chocolate range is a mixture of cocoa nibs and organic raw cane sugar sourced from Brazil. Find their milk varieties with only two additional ingredients: Australian whole milk powder and organic Peruvian cocoa butter. There are no preservatives and no additives, which is rare to find in many chocolate bars. This creates an amazing cocoa rich chocolate, not masking any of those flavours with nasty products.

Makin offers many vegan chocolate options and for those with nut allergies, all the nuts and extras are added after the chocolate has been made. There is no fear of cross-contamination in any of these goodies.  From macadamia and lemon myrtle chocolates, to v-filter drip cocoa nibs, there is something for every chocolate lover to experience.

Ratio Cocoa Roasters glass walled store and factory makes diners feel as if they really are in Willy Wonka’s factory. There are chocolate fountains on every corner and a large array of indulgences to choose from. The modern layout is somewhat timeless as it is simple but elegant.

Not only do Ratio Cocoa Roasters offer delicious treats to eat there and to take home, customers are offered factory tours to see just how their delectable treats came to be. Watch as the one of a kind machine separates the cocoa beans from the cocoa nibs, through a clear vortex. See how different consistencies in the cocoa are made through different days of churning. Watch the chocolate fountains galore and feel your mouth salivate in anticipation.

Each bar is handmade with so much love poured into them. Their bean to bar chocolate making is quite literally one of a kind. The nine step process is discoverable through their tours and on their website. From each hand-selected bean to wrapping the bars, Makin takes the customer and the chocolate on a journey like no other, straight to your taste buds.
