Listen up Melburnians, the Royal Croquet Club is back in town in all its might and majesty. The Royal Croquet Club – affectionately known by some as the RCC – was brought in with a soaking deluge but the clouds soon parted, shining on one of the best festivals this summer.
Running until Friday 23 December at Birrarung Marr, the fortnight-long event features an amazing croquet setup, all the Pimm’s you would ever want and a lewd human-sized dog who loves to get among all the action.
The RCC food offerings are on par and feature all the usual suspects from the food world — Up in Smoke and their finger-licking smoked hot wings with tangy ranch dressing; Hoy Pinoy and their tender Filipino-style chicken skewers; and 8 Bit Burgers, serving up their delicious burgers and fries.
The music line-up is quite impressive, featuring a mix of up-and-coming and established artists, belting out dance tunes perfect for a warm night boogie. Each night features a different local act, including Jarryd James, Kilter, Dope Lemon – formerly known as Angus Stone – and Triple J’s favourite DJ, KLP.
The Royal Croquet Club is the ideal spot for Pimm’s o’clock, so gather a group of mates and come join in on the party. Anyone for croquet?
