Dogs are truly man’s best friend, like family. Whether you own one, have owned one previously or are on the market, at some point, a canine will have touched your life in a brilliant and positive way. Regardless of your level of ownership of a dog, you will be sure to enjoy the activities of the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show, coming up this weekend from Friday May 1st until Sunday May 3rd, from 10.00am to 5.00pm daily.

The third annual event will host over 25,000 passionate dog lovers at The Royal Exhibition Building, with showcases, entertainment, education and information about a variety of services for your beloved pooch. Voted the Best Australian Show and Best Consumer Show by the EEAA Awards for Excellence – the ‘Gold Logie’ of the events industry – and is set to wow as it gets 30% larger than 2014.

Marisa of Second Chance Animal Rescue,  a foster and adoption facility specialising in animals surrendered by their owner or guardians, speaks about what she thinks makes the draw of the Dog Lovers Show so immense, and why the numbers are so vast. ‘People love dogs, I think it’s as simple as that. Dogs truly are a man’s best friend and this expo is a celebration of our furry companions. The expos are amazing, it’s a place where like minded people can come together and learn more about their canine friends, share experiences and help make the lives of dogs better.’

The Dog Lovers show provides organisation like Second Hand with a unique platform for spreading awareness about the work they do, educating people regarding responsible pet ownership and networking with other like-minded people and causes. Marisa is especially excited to generate some publicity for their new animal shelter on 1/30-34 Adrian Road in Campellfield, and is looking forward to using the opportunities of the Dog Lovers Show to help people connect with their potential new family members.

‘Dogs are amazing beings that have this ability to make us happy, teach us about the world and love us unconditionally. We have a lot to thank dogs for.’

Tickets are available at the event, or online now. If you pre-purchase online, you’ll receive 25% off the retail price and gain express entry through the VIP Lane to give you more time at the show! Whilst pooches aren’t permitted inside the show, you’d be barking mad to miss out, so work your way over to the Royal Exhibition Building this weekend and see what’s in store for your dog this year.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
