We all have that special dinner party guest list – amazing minds that have passed, or current geniuses (and not so much) that would make for fascinating discussion, endless laughs and maybe a few scandalous tidbits? But imagine taking that one step further and having a dream team of chefs cook you up a gem of a feast – course after sumptuous course. Now imagine if that chef team was actually mixing up magic to make the dreams of others less fortunate than ourselves come true?

Wish no more! You can be part of the incredible event that is ‘Gastronomique’ taking place this Wednesday night at Peninsula, Central Pier, Docklands. CEO of Anglicare Victoria Paul McDonald is just as excited as any of us – he says, ‘This is an unmissable night for Victorian chefs to come together to help Victoria’s vulnerable children’. Anglicare Victoria is our State’s largest foster care provider and houses over 400 children per night. The placements and support services provided by Anglicare Victoria give stability and a sense of hope to children unable to live with their natural families.

All of the chefs participating will donate their time, produce and skills to wow over 500 diners with dishes like Spanner crab salad, preserved lemon curd, kohl rabi, paprika, sheep’s milk yoghurt or Twice roasted duck, pickled medjool date jus, glazed baby turnips, spaetzle dumplings.

As well as Daniel Wilson from Huxtable who has will create at the event for his third year in 2014 says, ‘We try to support and give back as much as possible to the community and those less fortunate than us. It is a wonderful event with so many great chefs and restaurants supporting.’

So who from the veritable gastronomic ‘Wall of Fame’ will be whipping their knives around on the night? Could be easier to say who won’t be there but taking part are:

  • Adam D’Sylva from Coda and Tonka,
  • Scott Pickettfrom Estelle and Saint Crispin,
  • Gabriele Olivieri from Bottega,
  • Oliver Gould from Stokehouse,
  • Perry Schagen from The Graham,
  • Colin Wood from Cumulus Inc,
  • Tony Twitchett from Taxi Kitchen,
  • Olimpia Bortolotto and Daniel Kranjcic from Cecconi’s Flinders Lane,
  • Barry Davis from Montalto,
  • Mathew Macartney from Eleonore’s at Chateau Yering,
  • Nicky Riemer from Union Dining,
  • Ludo Baulacky from Oscar W’s,
  • Daniel Wilson from Huxtable,
  • Stuart Bell from Ten Minutes by Tractor,
  • Geoff Lindsay from Dandelion,
  • Sonia Anthony from Masons of Bendigo,
  • Andy Harmer from The Point,
  • Matt Germanchis and Emma Bottos from Pei Modern,
  • Brad Simpson from The Smith and
  • Matt Dempsey from Gladioli.

Make sure you get down to Gastronomique at Docklands this Wednesday night, solo or as a corporate team and enjoy all Victoria has to offer with a side dish of helping our vulnerable youth.

Tickets are $300 with $150 as a tax deductable donation to Anglicare Victoria.
