As the 2014 Melbourne Cup Carnival dawns upon the city, one of the carnival’s best kept secrets will be open to all race goers, adding to the infectious celebratory fever soon to hit Melbourne.
The Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar is open and ready to treat you to a memorable day of horses, great dance music and delicious cocktails.
The Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar creates quirky, delicious and refreshing cocktails, serving over 12,000 last year. The menu includes a wide variety of such original creations like The Schweppes Flemington Fling, unveiled as the official cocktail of the carnival in 2010.
The bar will also host some of Australia’s top DJ’s including Didier Cohen, Grant Smillie, MINX and Yo! Mafia.
Two-time ARIA Award winner Grant Smillie will headline the terrific acts to follow, performing on AAMI Victoria Derby Day, November 1. Holding the record for the most time spent in the Australian club chart top 10 with his track ‘Flaunt It’, sets up the perfect scene to have a drink and hit the dance floor as the horses battle towards the finish line.
Fresh from a DJ tour of the West Coast of the USA where he opened for Tony Junior and Breathe Carolina, Didier Cohen will play a special guest set on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 4 November.
MINX, the DJ who spun at the 2013 Grammy Awards after-party in Los Angeles and the Brit Awards after-party in London, playing tunes to Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Tinie Tempah, will perform on Crown Oaks Day, November 6.
Yo! MAFIA will perform on Emirates Stakes Day. MAFIA has supported big names in music including Stevie Wonder, Iggy Azalea, De La Soul, Ice Cube, Salt’n’Pepa, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg and Vanilla Ice.
The party atmosphere never stops, as the music continues throughout the day the dance floor turns into a drunken celebration of laughter and odd dance moves. Enjoy the view of the Flemington track from the spacious balcony, drink in hand and cheering on your winning horse.
