Roller Derby Mash Up

For a sporting capital Melbourne can be slow to embrace new athletic trends (frisbee golf never really took off) but one sport our fair city has embraced is Roller Derby – that gladiatorial mix of fitness, finesse and power – by woman on blades.

For those who aren’t acquainted this is bout five of the Victorian Roller Derby League that sees mortal enemies the Dolls of Hazzard vs. Dead Ringer Rosies followed by the equally venemous showdown between the Toxic Avengers vs. Rock Mobsters.

The names might be reminiscent of wrestling but this is 100% real. And fast. And kind violent, but not too much. This is the last chance to catch the teams home teams before an eight week hiatus, so be a sport make sure to get your hands on a ticket.
