New Pop Up Shop in Carlton
Posted by Dan Kuseta

A few weeks ago Tracey Marsich moved her wine shop, Drummond Cellars, to new digs around the corner to 112 Elgin St, Carlton (look for the Booze sign). With a few months left on the Drummond St lease, she decided to rope in some talented friends and start Crafty Co., a pop-up shop/collective where local artists display and sell their wares.
Sitting next to Markov Bar, Crafty Co. showcases the work of local designers from a variety of disciplines – there’s vintage clothes next Sharon Margaret’s amazing knitting work, whose playful creations include huge slices of lemon meringue pie, light-bulb necklaces and liquorice all-sorts brooches. Sonya Hough’s vividly coloured jewellery and bracelets compliment Jennifer Castle’s elegant silk bags and purses, while Narelle Watson’s brilliant beaded accessories and four letter words sit opposite Kick and Screen’s screen-printed tote bags, pillow cases and cotton tops.
Crafty Co. is the place to find that unique, handmade, local gift. And because it’s a collective you know anything you purchase will be going straight to the artist, which is a feeling, as Mastercard reminds us, that’s priceless.
Crafty Co. will be having their official launch on Wed, 17 August. If any of you crafty types are interested in displaying at the collective drop Tracey an email at gdrinking1@live.com.au. (She’s also got an awesome studio upstairs available for rent.)
